Students speak about the importance of seeing themselves reflected in the curriculum, and of being exposed to role models who inspire and motivate them to achieve greater things. We also see hear students develop greater understanding of other cultures through diversity in the classroom.
Explanatory note: Video narratives are compiled from extracts of weekly diaries maintained by first year students in the Faculty of Science and Engineering at Manchester Met in autumn 2021. Without changing meaning, minor edits are applied to otherwise verbatim written content to improve fluency in the spoken word. Narrated by Anita Nessa, Neisha Woolrich-Fraser, Zoe Ka-Ncube, and Ajeet Samra (students and B.A.M.E. Ambassadors at Manchester Met) to preserve authors’ anonymity.
