UTA Conference 2020: Using the Discord Virtual Community Space for Teaching - Matthew Crossley, Stuart Cunningham & John Henry
From Benjamin Davies on June 8th, 2020
Discord offers a fantastic virtual community space that can be ideal for teaching and learning. Although not envisioned as an educational space, the tools offered replicate a learning space surprisingly well. One of the key benefits of Discord is that it’s a space that is very much in the student’s existing technology sphere – capitalising on the notion that, if we take an educational space to a student’s environment, they are much more likely to engage. In this session, Matthew Crossley, Stuart Cunningham & John Henry share their experiences of running a Discord across Manchester Met’s Games programmes since 2017/18.
