Liz Hannaford, a lecturer in Multimedia Journalism, talks about how her students worked with their American counterparts to live blog US election night. Using virtual newsrooms, they were able to film interviews and participate in election events in the States. This curriculum enhancement activity built community by bringing together students from all year groups. It internationalised the student experience and supported the employability goals of the section.
There are plans to build on these relationships with US journalism departments to organise future international reporting projects.
