Abstract
International student numbers are increasing, yet political and global events create uncertainty in planning for specific student needs and overall numbers. This presents challenges for Level 7 staff and programmes in providing consistent and effective support. In response to these challenges, the School of Psychology adopted a “”bottom-up”” approach, gathering insights from both staff and students. Based on these findings, two members of staff developed a successful business case for a new flexible support model delivered through International Learning Advocate’s (ILA’s) associated with each Master’s programme. In this presentation, we will share the model, resources and preliminary data on student engagement, satisfaction, and awarding gaps suggesting the potential for this model to drive long-term improvements across key outcome measures.
We hope to foster a discussion on best practices for supporting international students across the university. Attendees are invited to contribute their experiences and insights to enhance support strategies and promote student success.
