Students reveal the impact of personal experiences of racial inequality and marginalisation. They also make observations about the behaviours of some Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic staff and the culture of the University.
Explanatory note: Video narratives are compiled from extracts of weekly diaries maintained by first year students in the Faculty of Science and Engineering at Manchester Met in autumn 2021. Without changing meaning, minor edits are applied to otherwise verbatim written content to improve fluency in the spoken word. Narrated by Anita Nessa, Neisha Woolrich-Fraser, Zoe Ka-Ncube, and Ajeet Samra (students and B.A.M.E. Ambassadors at Manchester Met) to preserve authors’ anonymity.
