Gamification: Introduction and
application to action research
Dr Esther Edo Agustín (Universidad
de Zaragoza, Spain)
Abstract
There are many preconceived notions about games and their usage
in an educational context (i.e. gamifying a course means playing with your
students; gamification is only a synonym of motivating students or using games
in classroom in the spare time). The aim of this online seminar is to change
these ideas and preconceptions. The first part will offer a brief introduction
to the methodology of Gamification. The second section will present an example
of action research in which the content of a unit (The history of Spanish
education) was delivered via a gamified experience for teacher trainees. The
seminar will provide some practical models and guidelines for integrating
gamification successfully across different modules.
