The Civil Service Fast Stream is the Civil Service’s flagship leadership development programme, developing people from a wide range of backgrounds who have the potential to become our future senior leaders. We offer a choice of 15 schemes, each within a profession, and the opportunity to contribute to fast-paced work that makes a difference to the whole of society. The Fast stream has four analytical schemes of which one is Statistics. As a Stats Fast Streamer you join the Government Statistical Service’s (GSS) main training scheme for future statistical leaders. The Government Statistical Service is an independent body working together to provide the statistical insight required by decision makers. Roles in the GSS support the production of official statistics alongside analysis and advice, providing a firm evidence base for decision making both inside and outside of government. There are also other opportunities for graduates to join the GSS outside the fast stream as direct entrants.
In this talk, Fast Streamers from the Civil Service Fast Stream will give an introduction to the Civil Service and the Fast Stream, talk through the stages of the application process, and then give some real world examples of their experiences of the scheme and what a typical day looks like for them
